GIFT City — IFSC

Global Markets.
Indian Advantage.

GIFT City offers a wide spectrum of investment channels. Non-resident investors can open offshore banking accounts and term deposits in multiple currencies (USD, GBP, AED, SGD, and more) with IFSC-licensed banks — with interest on offshore deposits exempt from Indian tax under IFSC rules.

The IFSC hosts two stock exchanges — India INX and NSE IFSC — where you can trade Indian equities, derivatives and bonds entirely in foreign currency, alongside commodity, bullion and energy exchanges. All trades on these IFSC exchanges carry no STT, CTT or stamp duty.

Advantages of GIFT City Investments

Tax Efficiency IFSC units enjoy a 10-year tax holiday on income, zero dividend distribution tax, and effectively exempt capital gains on IFSC-listed securities. There is no STT, CTT, GST or stamp duty on any IFSC securities transaction — benefits that dramatically improve post-tax returns for offshore investors.
Currency & Repatriation All IFSC transactions settle in freely convertible currency, protecting foreign earnings against INR depreciation. Proceeds from any investment are fully repatriable without approval or limits, subject to normal FEMA rules. Resident Indians may also remit up to USD 250,000 per year under LRS.
Global Market Access GIFT City brings international markets to India. Funds domiciled in the IFSC can invest in global equities, bonds, ETFs, real estate, private debt and more. Foreign investors can similarly access India without local currency or ownership restrictions, within a unified IFSCA framework that parallels global standards.
Estate & Wealth Planning High-net-worth families can establish Family Investment Funds or trusts as IFSC vehicles. An IFSC fund is treated as a non-resident entity under FEMA, enabling Indian families to invest abroad without normal exchange restrictions, consolidate cross-border assets and plan succession within a regulated framework.

What is GIFT City?

Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is India's first International Financial Services Centre, offering an offshore-style platform for global financial services regulated by the unified IFSCA framework.

Registered fund houses have launched GIFT City funds — feeder mutual funds and AIFs — that pool capital from global investors into Indian and international equities, debt, commodities, derivatives and other assets. Both inbound funds investing in India and outbound funds investing overseas are available.

With tax incentives, multi-currency settlement and full repatriation freedom, GIFT City provides almost all major financial vehicles — retail funds, PMS, AIFs, deposits, bonds and treasury products — within a single internationally aligned ecosystem, making it the preferred gateway for resident Indians and global investors alike.
